Greenon High School

Greenon High School is a public high school in Springfield, Ohio. It is the only high school in the Greenon Local School District. Attendance rate during the 2008 school year was 94.3% compared to the state average of 94.1%. Graduation rate was 93.2% compared to the state average of 86.1%. [1]

Sports

Greenon High School is Division III in football. The Greenon men's soccer team is back to back CBC champs. Greenon's girls cross country is back to back State qualifiers placing 8th in 2009 and 9th in 2010. The school's official colors are black and white; however silver and red often appear as accents. The school mascot is the Knight. The school's major rivals include the Shawnee Braves of Springfield, Ohio, the Kenton Ridge Cougars, and the Graham Falcons. Greenon High School is a member of the Central Buckeye Conference (CBC), which is divided into two divisions: The Kenton Trail which includes Bellefontaine, Stebbins, Shawnee, Tecumseh, Tippecanoe, and Kenton Ridge and The Mad River Division which includes Benjamin Logan, Graham, Greenon, Urbana, Northwestern, and Indian Lake.

Instrumental music

The Greenon High School Instrumental Music Department consists of the Greenon Marching Knights Marching Band, the Greenon Pep Band, the Greenon Indoor Performance Ensemble, the Greenon Symphonic Band, and the Greenon Big Band.

The Marching Knights compete in the MSBA (Mid-States Band Association) circuit, the Indoor Performance Ensemble competes in the MEPA (Mid East Performance Association) and WGI (Winter Guard International) circuits, and the Symphonic Band competes in both OMEA District XII Large Group and Solo and Ensemble Contests.

The Greenon Instrumental Music Department is under the direction of Jerrod Fry, and past directors include James Blankenship, Michael Bisig, Loyd Stigers, and Frank Giampetro.
